Evidence of proficiency in English language
Learn about English proficiency requirements for international pharmacy graduates from non-English speaking countries.
International pharmacy graduates who obtained their pharmacy degree outside of UK, USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand are required to show evidence of proficiency in English language at the point of application for pre-registration training.
Applicants must achieve the required minimum scores in one of the following English language tests:
Minimum test scores for English language tests
Test | Minimum Score |
IELTS (Academic Module) | Overall score of at least 7 and at least 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking). |
TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT)* | Total score of at least 94 and the following minimum score in each section of the test:

OET (under profession 'Pharmacy') | At least 350 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking). |
*TOEFL paper-based test will no longer be accepted in applications for registration with effect from 1 July 2021.
Test results must be obtained at one sitting and within 2 years prior to the date of application for pre-registration training.
